You don't get bonus points for doing everything alone. Someone in your circle has an idea, connection or piece of advice that could save you time and effort. So listen. Collaborate. Ask questions. Let clever people make your life easier. Independence is great, but refusing help just so you can say you did everything yourself isn't independence. That's just ego in disguise.
